The United Republic of Tanzania had re-opened its borders since the beginning of June 2020. Since then the islands of Zanzibar had once more been accessible to the world.

A negative COVID-19 certificate is required on arrival though there's no mandatory 14 days quarantine. Moreover, all travelers would still need to go through a temperate check on entry. Travelers are also urged to take the necessary precautions as seen below:

In the meantime, there is only one government health facility in-charge of COVID-19 testing in Zanzibar (Unguja and Pemba):

Mfikiwa COVID-19 Center:
Located in Pemba Island. We don't book this facility as we don't cover itineraries in Pemba.
This facility no longer operates!

Makunduchi COVID-19 Center:
Located 60km away from Stone Town. This center is finally operational. Recommended for clients staying on the Southern part of the island.
This facility no longer operates!

Global Hospital:
Located in Stone Town. This center is meant for locals and nonresidents. We don't book this facility as the tests are overcharged.

Lumumba COVID-19 Center:
Located 2km away from Stone Town. The facility is at the Lumumba Secondary School premises. Recommended for those staying in the city area.
This facility no longer operates!

Migombani COVID-19 Center:
Located 5km away from Stone Town. The facility is at the Cambridge Charter Academy premises.

When to take the COVID-19 test in Zanzibar?

Makunduchi COVID-19 Center:
Operates weekly - 08:00 to 15:30.

It is highly recommended to take the test (for PCR clients only) at least 2 days (48hrs) before leaving Zanzibar. Testing afterwards could compromise the chances of getting your result beforehand.
